Conspicuously absent from his thanks portion is any mention of the NEVADA LP , any of its activists or any fellow Nevadan LP candidates.

I wonder if it's because he's still pissed off we shut him out of votes from Nevada at Nat Con .

I thought we'd moved past it:)

At some point I need to write up a defense of Wayne Root, if only to make my friends angry at me.

Chuck didn't piss me off as much as his supporters did. It was a warzone on certain forums.

Chuck was my second choice, but I really got tired of the LP bashing. I felt alot of people were just using Barr as an excuse to hammer on the LP.

"Chuck Baldwin was and is a theocrat. You believe in theocracy? That’s not very libertarian."

Chuck Baldwin stated on multiple instances that he believe freedom of religion was the most fundamental freedom of America. He had mormons, catholics, and a deist in his staff.

He did, however, support mild protectionism.

I have voted for nearly every LP ticket since I learned about the party in 1974. When I haven't voted LP it has been because they weren't on the ballot nor certified for write-in. I voted for Barr/Root this year but with misgivings. Had I lived in a state where Chuck Baldwin was on the ballot I might have followed Ron Paul's advice. If Root tops the ticket in 2012 I am absolutely certain I will NOT vote for him. Take that for what it's worth... I think I represent a pretty darn loyal LP constituency but enough is enough.

The guy basically had the Who's Who of Libertarian Dumbassery in his Thank you list, though there were a few good guys as well.

I like how he name dropped some minor media celebrities.

I also like how he picked out his accountant. He apparently looked in the Yellow Pages and looked for someone whit his middle name as a first name. Or perhaps his accountant changed his name to honor Root?

The Conscious of a Libertarian= God and Guns? This guy was so much cooler when he was Millionaire Republican.

<i>I guess, according to W.A.R., in the minds of Americans, socialism and tax cuts are compatible. </i>

I think his point was that Obama dazzled a lot of people with bullshit, and that he (Wayne) is a good bullshitter as well.

<i>"The Barr/Root Presidential ticket received about 500,000 votes. That is the 2nd highest vote total in LP history (37 years)"</i>

Let's see though, in terms of vote percentage, the Clark, Paul, and Browne (1996) campaigns all received higher numbers. For the supposed "best LP presidential ticket ever", this result was underwhelming to say the least, and darn horrendous to be truthful.

LOL Paulie . . . I can't let a liar get away with such lies.

Really though, W.A.R. should thank me too . . . I've pointed out the utter incompatibility of the LP (and libertarianism in general) and him!

<i>"Yet Obama, who is to the left of McGovern, won with his McGovern-like socialist ideas . . ."

"exit polls prove that a majority of Americans saw Obama as the tax cutter of this election. "</i>

I guess, according to W.A.R., in the minds of Americans, socialism and tax cuts are compatible.

How about this one in W.A.R.'s words . . .

<i>Back in August when Barr/Root had 6% in the national polls it looked like it was possible to
attract millions of votes</i>

I'm not going to point to where I said it, but I said many, many, times, that you could take early poll results for third party candidates, and expect a small fraction of that on election day would turn into votes. Optimism is great, but being delusional is very unbecoming of a potential presidential candidate.

Mark my words. . . in 3 years and 6 months from now, W.A.R. will be nowhere near getting the LP nomination for president. He will be summarily rejected. I can only hope the same is true for Barr.

Good Lord! Would anyone of sane status really take the time out to read this entire entry?

I, for one am waiting for W.A.R.'s take on the lack of "gamers" (millions of them according to W.A.R., whom he would deliver to the LP vote total!) who didn't vote for Barr/W.A.R. Will it be because W.A.R. wasn't on the top of the ticket? If the LP nominates him for president in 2012, THEN he will deliver them?

I also found it interesting that Aaron Starr was the first person he named in his thanks to LP members (I'm insulted that he didn't thank me!), as it was Starr who essentially put Mary Ruwart's "Short Answer" in Schreiber's hands, just 24 to 48 hours before the infamous "Ruwarchy" began the smear of Ms. Ruwart.

I will say this though . . . I agree with W.A.R. on one point . . . it won't be "your father’s LP" with W.A.R. in an influential position. Too bad, as it won't be a "libertarian" party at all, father's or not!
