Steve Kubby: The Future of Freedom

November 20th, 2008 · 6 Comments

Steve Kubby was a candidate for the Libertarian Presidential nomination in 2008, and the runner up for the party’s VP nomination in 2008 and 2000. He was also the party’s candidate for Governor of California in 1998. He is currently working on a new business venture in the medical field. Disclosure: I worked on his presidential campaign.

Merovingian: We all stand for freedom, of course. And we would all like to believe that the future will bring us greater freedom. Yes? But this is not a reason; this is not a why. The Freedom Movement itself, its very nature is a means, it is not an end. So, to be looking for the Future of Freedom, is to be looking for a means…to do…what?

Neo:
You know the answer to that question.

Merovingian: But do you? You think you do, but you do not. You are here because you were sent here; you were told to come here, and you obeyed. It is of course, the way of all things. You see there is only one constant, one universal; it is the only real truth: causality… action… reaction; cause and effect.

Morpheus: Everything begins with choice.

Merovingian: No. Wrong. Choice is an illusion, created between those with power…and those without. Look there, at all the independent voters. My God, just look at all those dedicated Greens and energized Ron Paul folks. All that talk this year about ‘Change’, affecting everyone around us, so obvious, so bourgeois, so boring. Watch, you see, I have sent voters a dessert… A very toxic dessert. I wrote it myself. It starts so simply… Each line of the program creating a new fate, just like poetry. First, a series of huge bailouts with money that doesn’t exist, then lots of talk about change, but continued wars abroad and an escalading war on civil liberties, here at home. There is revolution and freedom in the air and yet it has nowhere to go. You can see it, Neo, yes? All those voters do not understand why; Is it Obama? No. What is it, then, what is the reason? And soon it does not matter. Soon the why and the reason are gone; and all that matters is the hunger for Freedom itself, that real change cannot be denied.

And this is the nature of the universe. We campaign against it; we pass laws to deny it, but it is, of course, pretense; it is a lie. Beneath our poised appearance, the truth is: we are completely… out of control and bankrupt, both morally and financially. Like Rome, after the Fall, our leaders debate terms of surrender as if we were somehow the victors.

Causality. There is no escape from it. We are forever slaves to it. Our only hope, our only peace is to understand it; to understand the why. Why is what separates us from them…You from me. Why is the only source of power; without it, you are powerless. And this is how you come to me; without why…without power. Another link in the chain.

But fear not. For I have seen how good you are at following orders, I will tell you what to do next… Run back, and give your Obama and his Democrats this message: Their bailouts and empty promises for change will all be their undoing. Their actions will fail, because they have failed to understand the why. Because they have no why, they are powerless to do anything meaningful to advance the cause of freedom.

Hence, the world will continue to hunger for freedom, while the stinking, bloated corpse of government continues to bury us in false promises and escalading debts… action… reaction; cause and effect.

Now, I have some real business to do. So I will say adieu and goodbye to the crashing wreckage of the Industrial Age and jack myself into the brilliant new world of the Information Age, a world that is beyond the reach of any government, any tax, any currency or any Agent.

I like Steve Kubby, but the future off freedom as libertarians know it is nonexistent. Only social freedoms like freedom of expression matter. Economic freedom doesn’t matter, and neither do anti-Christian freedoms like abortion, gay marriage and divorce. The Catholic Trotskyist Party is committed to making sure that Obama commits to his promises to take economic freedom away, and now with a new branch in Australia, and its defeat of the Protestant Stalinist Party, things are well on their way.

And the Stalinist Portestant Party chairman said unto the Archangel Gabriel “WHY OH GOD, WHY HAST THOUGH FORESAKEN ME? sHALL I CONTINUE TO BE WITHDRAWN FROM YOUR PRESENCE, O LORD, AND SUFFER IN MY INIQUITIES?” You’ll have to think about the answer.

Worthy is the lamb who hast been slain, worthy of wisdom and light, amen.

Kubby should run again in 2012, he’d definetly be a favorite, along with Stanhope and Ruwart.

Steve Kubby is a great man, but I believe he has more important things to achieve in life than seeking the nomination again in 2012.

One of my favorite moments in Denver was Kubby’s rallying words in the hall outside the convention.

If he asked for my help/vote, he would have it.

Did anybody see the poll showing that 61 pct of Americans had an unfavorable opinion of the Republican Party? As they move toward a Christianist/know nothing regional force, there are going to be a lot of votes up for grabs.

Ah, the flattest form of sincerity — or something like that.
