Louisiana is â€œLouis.â€ just as Massachusetts is â€œMass.â€ The post awful cannot get Louisiana to become LA just by asserting a two letter postal abbreviation.

No, that’s wrong. Massachusetts is “Mass.”, but the traditional state abbreviation for Louisiana is “La.” not “Louis.”. That’s according to the AP Stylebook and the Government Printing Office.
