In our blog comments, Richard Winger of Ballot Access News writes:
For Libertarians, we especially need bills (in states not mentioned above) in Alabama (definition of party, fewer signatures), Alaska (definition of party), Illinois (fewer signatures), Massachusetts (primary ballot access), New Hampshire (definition of party, substitution, ability to register into unqualified parties), New Mexico (no more double petitions), Pennsylvania, Tennessee (definition of party), Virginia (definition of party). In some of these states people are already working on finding sponsors.
He explained that “the months of November and December of any even-numbered year are the PRIME months to ask state legislators to introduce bills to improve ballot access (and to introduce bills on any subject). If people wait, the legislators will say, “Sorry; I can only introduce XX number of bills and I’ve already got my quota.” We are in a window of opportunity that only opens once every two years.”

This is about what Crick and I proposed and is technically policy. The LP would benefit from attacking these ballot laws head on.

In much more imprtant news, I have received a message from the archangel Gabriel, which I shall now transmit to you my loyal readers. With the earth-shattering victory of General Barack Obama, and the passage of Holy Proposition 8 in California, there is now an 89.66% probability that Catholic Trotskyism will become the predominant ideology of the world by December 21, 2012.
God bless David Brownlow, for he stole conservative votes to get Democrats a seat. May God’s curses be on David krikorian and Dean Barkley, amen.

No use in getting the signature requirements reduced in Illinois, the political machine is so corrupt the only way to change the system is from within. My advice to libertarians wanting to run for office in Illinois…run as a Republican or Democrat. They have screwed us numerous of times….now it is payback time and PAYBACK IS A MUTHA!!!!!

cbennett,
The Modern Whig Party is actually enagaging in what you suggest. Our candidates that run on major party tickets must sign a pledge stating that they will work to improve ballot access. This is especially true for our candidate running for the House of Delegates in Fairfax County, VA.
