Still, it remains a distinct possibility that Nader will not win the election on Tuesday and that Obama may. Were that to occur, Politico asked Nader’s spokesman, Toby Heaps, would Nader be willing to take a job in the Obama administration, should one be offered?

“I think he would consider a consumer czar-type position, where he had a broad mandate to help organize consumers of varying stripes (financials, shareholders, utilities) to hold their various corporate behemoths to account and ensure fair and transparent delivery of their services,” Heaps said in an e-mail. “After what’s just happened on Wall and Main Street with the mortgage fiasco and bailout, there would be widespread citizen interest in joining these types of consumer unions.”
