A meme that just popped into my head. List your Presidential votes, or non-votes, the candidate’s party, explain why you voted that way in no more than four words, and list the guy who eventually won.

*Got robbed, not that it would have mattered.
**Technically, not yet. But the Republicans have not legitimately won in 20 years, and this time it ain’t gonna be close.

I’m too much of a pussy not to vote, so I will be voting tomorrow… for Bob Barr.
My reasons for not voting for Barr were that he was a scoundrel who was taking the LP in the wrong direction. On the issues, he was always clearly the best (though still pathetic and far too statist). But now I don’t give a shit about the LP, so I’ll vote for him as the lesser of six evils.
I voted for Clinton, Gore, and Nader in the past. I was a moron.
3 paulie cannoli // Nov 3, 2008 at 9:27 pm
*Got robbed may be too strong a term, since they laid back and enjoyed it.
4 PJWerner // Nov 3, 2008 at 9:38 pm
2004-Kerry (Democrat)–Swing-state cowardice– W Bush.
2008-Nader (Independent)–Universal Health Care– ???
Note: No one I have ever voted for, other than judges, has won. Thankfully, this year, that ought to change as I will be voting for Dennis Kucinich, who is heavily favored here.
5 Ross Levin // Nov 3, 2008 at 9:54 pm
That must feel amazing to vote for Dennis.
6 Cortney // Nov 3, 2008 at 10:00 pm
This is the 1st time I get to vote in a presidential election
*2008 Barr/He is the LP candidate… I might regret my decison in 20 years but at least I am not a sheep and only voting for the lesser of 2 evils e.g. McCain and Obama… who i disagree with completely.

15 Catholic Trotskyist // Nov 4, 2008 at 2:39 am
G.E., are you joking? For someone with so many opinions, you really change your mind a lot.
16 paulie cannoli // Nov 4, 2008 at 2:40 am
You just noticed?

postscript – The last two Pres primaries here in Tenn, I have had the pleasure of voting for Kucinich (2004) and Paul (2008). I don’t recall voting in any primaries prior to that, since there were no candidates I could support, even in that limited way
19 paulie cannoli // Nov 4, 2008 at 3:09 am
Primaries:
Gary Hart ’88
Jerry Brown ’92
(worked on those two)
Alan Keyes ’96
(Democrats had no challenger; I voted in a June primary, and most Republicans had bowed out,
and I liked Keyes standing up to his party for locking him out of the debate – Atlanta, I think)
after this point, no primaries, rather, LP conventions.
2000 – Browne; Kubby for VP
2004 – Russo; Millay for VP
2008 – Kubby, then Ruwart; Kubby for VP
20 Peter Orvetti // Nov 4, 2008 at 6:48 am
1992 — Clinton/thought he was JFK/Clinton
1996 — Clinton/I was a Democrat/Clinton
2000 — Gore/I like the guy/Gore *
2004 — Kerry/Bush bad, me dumb/Bush
Oddly, while I’ve often voted for alternative candidates for other offices, for one reason or another I’ve ended up voting Dem for president all four times. That will change this morning.
21 Peter Orvetti // Nov 4, 2008 at 6:49 am
Wow, both G.E. and I have come around to Barr. Weird.
22 paulie cannoli // Nov 4, 2008 at 7:09 am
Four words for 08?
23 paulie cannoli // Nov 4, 2008 at 7:12 am
Wow, both G.E. and I have come around to Barr.
I’ll make a prediction. You’ll probably both regret it.

Write-ins?
28 G.E. // Nov 4, 2008 at 11:55 am
The only thing that I’ve changed my mind about is the Libertarian Party. It is worthless. So I don’t care about its future.
29 DWP2016 // Nov 4, 2008 at 12:27 pm
Paulie, yes in 1996; I wrote-in Buchanan; I couldn’t get behind Dole and had lost the desire to vote for Perot.
I would’ve voted for Perot in 1992 if I was old enough
30 paulie cannoli // Nov 4, 2008 at 12:39 pm
Not my choice (see above), but at least he was constitutionally qualified, unlike Reagan in 1988.
Or did Anthony D vote for one of these Regans?

1980 Supported Carter/Reagan Would Start WWIII/Reagan
1984 Anybody but Reagan/Reagan Would Start WWIII/Just Say No Nancy/Reagan
35 Steve // Nov 5, 2008 at 1:54 am

2008 Iowa Caucus – Ron Paul (GOP) – finally my hero runs – Huckabee
