I agree with Chuck regarding both Susan and Brian. We need cross section of idea people represented on the comittee. And I agree with the idea of having Brian as the Chair even if it is only temporarily. While I don’t agree with all of his points and think he’s a bit wordy, he has shown a willingness to hear all sides imo.

I did not vote for Barr… BUT… I do give him credit for actually talking to me in Denver and asking for my vote.

Number of other candidates who did the same: Zero.

You can’t beat somebody with nobody.

So I hope they pick me, frankly. I’d take it really seriously and endeavor to do a great job.

I’d make my case individually to the LNC members if I didn’t think that was too pushy. Well… is it too pushy?

It seems I’ve started a bit of a fuss relating to the former Chair (2008 Platcom). But more importantly, based on his so called “green shift tax” this and that, Holtz would be a bad a choice.

Eternaverse, agreed. Stephen Gordon supported Barr before nomination. I never supported Barr.

I think anyone who supported Barr before he was nominated does not deserve to have any position in the party what-so-ever for their fowl judgment and willingness to comprise in principle. People who supported him after he was selected to be the candidate are ok because most of them did it out of simple (if misguided) party loyalty. But I would consider someone who put principle before all else and did not support Barr ever to be the best candidate for party office.

I only know about half those names off the top of my head. There look like several very good candidates. I can’t comment much or make endorsements though as I’m not privy to the personal statements and sample planks from the ones I don’t recognize.

I hope the LNC will appoint people from different points of view, including prominent radicals like Susan Hogarth and prominent reformers like Brian Holtz.

In addition, I strongly encourage the LNC to appoint an interim Platform Committee chair who values transparency so there is not a repeat of the 2008 controversy. Brian Holtz would be my pick. He may be ideological, but he is also scrupulously dedicated to openness and fairness of process.
