NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A federal judge says she is prepared to rule on whether Connecticut must add the Libertarian Party’s candidates to its Nov. 4 ballot.
The party says it submitted enough petition signatures to qualify Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr and his running mate, Wayne Root, for the ballot.
State elections officials say they fell short because many signatures had to be thrown out, lacking information necessary to verify their authenticity.
U.S. District Judge Janet C. Hall said Wednesday in open court that she is prepared to rule from the bench Thursday, the Connecticut Post reports.
The Libertarian Party does not have minor party status for statewide races, which would have allowed it to forgo the petition drive.
