September 12th, 2008 · 33 Comments

LP interim Executive Director Robert Kraus might want to add WikiNews to his official media blacklist. The populist alternative to the corporate-controlled media has recently published a story on “Snubgate.”

So, one of the same 50 people who click here 100 times every day wrote a “wiki.” Big deal. Wiki is not allowed to be used as a reference at serious Universities, high schools, middle schools and even elementary schools, because it is so unreliable.

Now we can see the difference between Ron Paul’s real supporters, and the G-bots.

  • 2 Mike Gillis // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:08 pm

    Yeah, guys.

Don’t get your news from blogs….except for Third Party Watch.

  • 3 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:11 pm

Annonmous Shill says WikiNews was written by one of the “100″ people who visit this site (we had over 10k unique visitors on 9/10, by the way), and that it isn’t credible because THE STATE can’t control it and thus doesn’t allow it to be used as a source in its institutions.

    VERY LIBERTARIAN!

There can be unity among Greens, Constitutionalists, Naderites, and REAL libertarians — but not among these scumbag shills for Barr. They are just Establishment libertines who want the Dems and Repubs to respect them. They don’t want a realignment, they want to be invited to the party. Proof is in their incessantly statist statements.

    Mike Gillis // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:06 pm:

To quote GE about Wiki … ” it isn’t credible because THE STATE can’t control it and thus doesn’t allow it to be used as a source in its institutions.”

Gee, GE, you are the only person who said this.

  • 5 Trent Hill // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:34 pm

The article was written by Joseph Ford, a staffer of wikinews.

  • 6 Coming Back to the LP // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:37 pm

Wiki isn’t credible and isn’t accepted by private institutions, not the government. It’s because any wacko with an agenda can post there and create a reference and then post it here to support a failing argument.

In fact, since it is private researchers and individual professors and teachers, private schools and serious students that have rejected Wiki, it is obvious that the rejection of Wiki has occured in the free marketplace of ideas.

Rejecting Wiki is a very LIBERTARIAN thing to do.

Admit it, GE, you posted the Wiki.

  • 7 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:45 pm

Admit it, GE, you posted the Wiki.

    LIAR.

There are two universities that are not wholly controlled by the state. Their sample size is thus too small to make any reasonable assumption about how the free market would treat WikiNews.

  • 8 Trent Hill // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:49 pm

    GE,

    What university beside Hillsdale College?

And no,GE did not write the article. As I already stated–Joseph Ford of Wikinews did.

  • 9 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:50 pm

Grove City College, I believe, Trent.

There’s no reasoning with these statists. They say I’m a smear artist and “misrepresenting” and “illogical” when anyone with half a brain can see that the reverse is true.

    G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:50 pm
“anyone with half a brain can see that the reverse is true.”

Indeed, your arguments are half brained.

Anyone with a whole brain can see that GE has no real interest in LIBERTY.

  • 11 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:57 pm

Anyone with a whole brain can see that GE has no real interest in LIBERTY.

Attack with no logic, no evidence, etc.

    Right up Barr’s alley.

  • 12 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 5:58 pm

Coming Back to the LP just spreads smears and lies against his opponents, and his opponents are anyone who dare speaks the truth.

“Coming Back to the LP just spreads smears and lies against his opponents, and his opponents are anyone who dare speaks the truth.”

I only have to quote you to show how illogical and foolish you are. You provide the evidence of your own silliness.

You call people “half brained” but resent having turned against you.

Indeed you are not only a smear artist, but a crybaby.

Just like today, there was a move against Ed Clark. Do you remember him GE? Of course there was no internet then to magnify the tiny group of antagonists. And fortunately, Ed got a number of large donations from his VP candidate David.

  • 14 darolew // Sep 12, 2008 at 6:14 pm

While, in my opinion, Wikipedia and its sister projects are very useful resources, that’s not the importance of this in my opinion. Wikinews has a decent number of readers, and thus this represents more media coverage of the September 10th fiasco. That’s the significance.

  • 15 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 6:15 pm

CBTTLP = Paid shill. Ignore him.

  • 16 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 6:17 pm

Of course, we could pull a Bob Barr/LP/TPW (as if there’s a difference) and censor comments that we don’t like. But no — we’ll allow these shills to sink themselves as they make “arguments” that continue to reach new levels of REDICULOUSâ„¢-ness.

  • 17 Thomas L. Knapp // Sep 12, 2008 at 6:28 pm

“Wiki” is just a format for organizing information. That format is irrelevant to the crediblity/reliability of the information so organized.

  • 18 Trent Hill // Sep 12, 2008 at 6:45 pm

    “Grove City College”

    Yep,you are right.

If I decide to attend Grad School it’ll be at Hillsdale or Grove City.

  • 19 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 6:53 pm

Trent… I would say you should go to Hillsdale so we could hang out. But, after living my whole life about 30 minutes from Hillsdale, I moved north two years ago… And with any luck, I’ll be in Costa Rica or Hong Kong (or at least Las Vegas) by the time you’re ready for grad school.

  • 20 Peter Orvetti // Sep 12, 2008 at 6:55 pm

Costa Rica is on our possible-expatriation list as well.

guys, check out my post on ronpaulforums:

    http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=151127&page=2

    I was banned within minutes!
    So much for free speech.

Was the post outside the bounds of free speach? I mean threatening, illegal, an attack on another member of the forum?

Or was it in the realm of political speech? The highest form of free speech that most real libertarians show tolerance for? I’m not complaining, I’m just explaining…this is the Ron Paul movement…I’ll save you the trouble of clicking here is the post:

    Welcome new Ron Paul supporter.

You might want to start by reading Ron Paul’s Political Report, a magazine he sponsored in the 90′s to get some background on him.

One of the articles said the 92′ Los Angeles riot ended when: blacks went “to pick up their welfare checks.”

After this story hit the mainstream media, Ron Paul admitted the Ron Paul Political Report was basically racist, but that it was written by a ghost writer and he had no idea what his endoresement meant, and didn’t oversee anything.

At first this sounds ridiculous but after you get to know RP, you’ll probably agree this is actually plausible.

p.s. the expiration date on my ban: NEVER

    lord!

  • 23 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:03 pm

rdupuy – You still have free speech — you can start your own blog. Or you can post at places like IPR that do not censor non-spammers. But it is the perogative of RonPaulForums to run their forums — their PRIVATE PROPERTY — however they see fit.

You have a right to complain. You have a right to expose their restrictions. But you do NOT have a right to “free speech” that trumps the right of private property.

  • 24 Trent Hill // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:06 pm

“Trent… I would say you should go to Hillsdale so we could hang out. But, after living my whole life about 30 minutes from Hillsdale, I moved north two years ago… And with any luck, I’ll be in Costa Rica or Hong Kong (or at least Las Vegas) by the time you’re ready for grad school.”

I lean towards Grove City, because it is cheaper and in PA,where my wife wants to live (cuz she has family there).
I’d also goto Wheaton College, or the College of the Ozarks.

  • 25 rdupuy // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:16 pm

    G.E.

You and I have exactly the same thoughts on what constitutes free speech and private property.

You say I have no right to complain. I also said in my original post that “I’m not complaining. I’m just explaining.”

Of course, you are playing with words, and I applaud you for that. I could have been more careful with my words. Just as you could have been in your response.

The fact is, call it a ‘demonstration of the mentality’ because my purpose is to take the shine off the Ron Paul movement. They are not idealists. They complain in their very own forums extensively about ‘censorship’ , and down in the details they are talking about wanting to be part of other people’s private property. Myspace is private property. Myspace can remove all pro-Paul banners that they want.

No high ideals, just the usual partisanship.

  • 26 rdupuy // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:20 pm

oops, did I misread your post, you said ‘have the right to complain’

    yes indeed, of course.

  • 27 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:24 pm

Yeah.. You DO have a right to complain and it IS worthy to note that RPF censors anti-Ron Paul comments. That makes ME think less of them, for sure. But it is still their right. There’s no disagreement. Thank you for alerting people to the fact that this is going on. It’s just like what Barr’s people did with TPW which led to IPR’s founding.

  • 28 svf // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:43 pm

    Paid shill

So where do I sign up to get paid for posting comments on websites with infinitessimally small readerships?

Seriously… I need the beer money.

  • 29 G.E. // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:46 pm

Small readership? Our readership is much larger than TPW or BAN. Are you dissing those sites too?

  • 30 svf // Sep 12, 2008 at 7:47 pm

Not at all… I’ll certainly post more comments there too as long as I get paid to do so!

  • 31 Darcy Richardson // Sep 12, 2008 at 10:24 pm

“Grove City College, I believe, Trent.”

G.E. is right. Aside from Hillsdale, Grove City College in northwest Pennsylvania is the only other school in the country that doesn’t accept federal largesse, including federal student grant and loan programs. My father taught economics there in the late 1960s — ironically enough, as part of the school’s ROTC program.

Grove City College, which was largely subsidized by the Pew family, has produced some interesting figures over the years, including Hans Sennholz, an ex-Luftwaffe pilot who headed the school’s economics department for years. Sennholz was a frequent contributor
to The Freeman, the Foundation for Economic Education’s magazine, whose regular contributors also included F. A. Hayek, Ludwig Von Mises and Milton Friedman, among others.
