Trent Hill, founder of the Louisiana Taxpayers Party and IPR correspondent, was recently interviewed by Reason Magazine’s David Weigel concerning the origins of the Ron Paul draft effort, a discussion of the controversial Louisiana Republican caucuses, and the disposition of their vice presidential candidate, Barry Goldwater, Jr.:
At the onset of this effort, we were fairly confident that Ron Paul would not sue to have his name removed from the ballot–we were far more concerned about the VP choice, and wether he or she might remove their name. Former Rep. Barry Goldwater Jr. was asked by one of our members at the Rally for the Republic is he would accept the VP spot and he was very happy about the effort and even suggested he might come to Louisiana to do some fundraising events or rallies.

Good for Trent!
I hope Paul can stay on the ballot in LA.

Im starting to think he might not.
He asked to have his name removed from the ballot in Montana—but I understand this was becasue he wanted Baldwin’s name ON.
In our state, Barr isnt going to be on the ballot (we dont think) and if Paul’s removes his name from contention, Baldwin will be the only one on.
Either way—I win. =)

The Libertarian Party and the Barr for President campaign will be joining the Socialist Party’s lawsuit against Louisiana, so there’s still a chance that Bob Barr will appear on the ballot in the Pelican State. The lawsuit, initiated by Brian Moore’s campaign, is expected to be filed early next week.
