Paul-Goldwater paperwork submitted in Louisiana

September 4th, 2008 · 23 Comments

Trent Hill reports that the Taxpayers Party submitted paperwork to the Lousiana Secretary of State to nominate Ron Paul for president and Barry Goldwater, Jr. for vice president. Goldwater, Jr. accepted the nomination, and it is assumed that Paul will not reject it, based on his passive acceptance of a theoretical VP nomination in Virginia. Time will tell if the Taxpayers Party’s paperwork is accepted.

You posted it in a comment. That made it public. Another site could have scooped the story.

I don’t see the point of this other than to hurt both the Baldwin and Barr campaigns.
Sure I’d love to see Ron Paul as President but I don’t think this will get him the White House.

    Travis,

Hurt both Baldwin and Barr? Neither will score 1% in Louisiana…whats to hurt?

Baldwin likely wont be on the ballot in Texas, Illinois, New York, Georgia, Oklahoma, Maine, Conneticut, Indiana, New Hampshire, North Carolina,California, and possibly not Pennsylvania or Montana. That is 37 states, 39 is we luck out–less than or equal to Peroutka.

Im not worried about HURTING Bob Barr or Chuck Baldwin…im more concerned about how much it will hurt John McCain, about how much it will help the wider freedom movement, and about how much educating we can do here in Louisiana through this.

    WTF?

It’s still not a done deal that they’ll appear, of course.

Ron Paul’s already gotten screwed over once in LA, and it wouldn’t be inconcievable for it to happen twice.

There is a reason I took a camera with me and video-taped me bringing the paperwork in.

Are we gonna go down this road where you allege that I “hate” conservatives again? We’ve already had that fight, Trent. I respect you and your intellect and your ideology.

Whoops. You are right Richard, my bad.

For the record: We’re very excited about this prospect. If the SoS doesnt let it happen, we’ve legal counsel in the wings.

Also–we arent the only state trying. More on that later.

Can’t think of a better ticket except maybe Ron Paul/ Ron Paul (clone)

The only other person who really came close to being on the VP spot was Gov. Gary Johnson. It was important to us that the VP be qualified, an elected official who was part of the liberty movement and who added something to the ticket. Gary Johnson did that, and we knew he would accept it–but now we’ve gotten word that Barry Goldwater Jr will not only accept it—he might visit Louisiana for a few campaign events.

How about Barry Goldwater III? Goldwater, Jr. made a point of bringing him out there. Is the kid legit? Anyone know?

  • 18 G.E. // Sep 5, 2008 at 12:45 am

Goldwater, Jr. supported Schwarzenazi in ‘03, btw.

Interesting that he’s a coin man.

I’v no idea about Goldwater III, but I hear he’s a young Revolutionary.

As for Schwarzenagar (or however you spell it), im surprised Goldwater didnt support McClintock.

Well..that could be because of what science has to say about genes lying dormant every other generation.

  • 22 Trent Hill // Sep 5, 2008 at 2:51 am

Or it could be something about growing up in a household that is known across the nation as the Defenders of Liberty.

Did you guys hear that Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, and Bob Barr are going to announce something together on September 10th? I’m excited to find out what the announcement is.
