Miller politics reports
Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader, who also failed to make it on the Texas ballot, has issued a statement on the Barr suit. He congratulated the Libertarians for being the only party to make it on the Texas ballot and wishes them well in their suit.
Nader, a four time minor presdiential candidate, also said that the major parties had three options: Acknowledge that ballot access laws harm the demoratic proccess and call for reform in the ballot access process, run as a write in candidate, like Nader himself is doing in Texas, but the third option, he says, is most likely to happen.
Nader said: “But what is most likely is that they will choose the third option, which we have seen in the past. They will simply lean on state officials to ignore the law or direct the Texas legislature to push back the deadline after it expired. If this happens, then it is just another example of political bigotry and its double-standard in American politics: independent and minor-party candidates are strictly held to ridiculous requirements to participate in democracy, while the two-party duopoly are given a privileged pass.”
Meanwhile, the Bob Barr blog carries the news that
The Daily Kos has caught wind of our lawsuit in Texas:
This entire lawsuit begs a serious question. The Republocrats have for a long time bullied 3rd party candidates off the ballot, and even challenged Barr’s ballot placement in Penn. Why shouldn’t turnabout be fair play?
I for one would be willing to give Texas to Barr, in exchange for Obama losing a state he will lose anyways. Hopefully, the Obama campaign will throw their full weight behind this one. It is high time that the Democrats stand up for the rule of law, and back Barr in this audacious bid.

Very interesting lawsuit. It shoves the Supreme Court’s politically-motivated Bush-Gore-Florida decision back in the Supreme Court’s face.
Actually, McCain does not seem to be in danger, it is only NObama who had the dog and pony show of not being SELECTED but elected so he is the one that would have to admit he lied and that he was in fact SELECTED and the delegates were all just being fed bologny and they wasted their hard earned money to FLY to Denver only for a show and to trick them to switching their vote from Hillary to the NObama, all smoke and mirrors OR he will have to show he did in fact not register ON TIME, taking him off the ballot.
As for McCain, his nomination was not in contention and the coronation could have been held after they submitted their paperwork. Nothing has to be released to the press to make it valid. Palin may have been chosen weeks before.
Ralph Nader is the best candidate running and the people deserve to hear him debate.
His VP choice Matt Gonzalez is exceptional and would be ready to lead if needed.

That wasn’t the DailyKOS speaking. It was a diary-writer from KOS. Anyone that signs up can write diaries. I even wrote one about the Barr/Texas situation, but it just didn’t get noticed by the Barr people.
It is high time that the Democrats stand up for the rule of law, and back Barr in this audacious bid.
I really hate DailyKos. So blindly and amorally Democratic. If it helps the Dems, it’s a good thing.
Whereas, none of them would condemn what the Dems did to Ralph in 2004, they’ll happily back tossing McCain off of the Texas ballot. And they openly admit it’s only because it benefits Obama.
Were this lawsuit in say…California…their position would be very different, regardless of the circumstances.
At least Ralph’s support is based on principle, and he would support it regardless of the state it was happening in.
