In an editorial in its November issue, High Times says three “major-party candidates — Barack Obama (Democrat), Bob Barr (Libertarian) and Ralph Nader (Green) — all agree that the federal government must finally accept that individual states have a right to enact protections for medical-marijuana patients, the doctors who treat them, and the growers who supply their medicine.” The magazine “kindly recommends that you vote for one of them.”

Naturally I am pleased that they endorsed General Obama and not General McCain, but they should have picked McKinney and Baldwin instead of Nader and Barr. There reasoning still would have applied.

If I recall correctly, they just endorsed Kerry in 2004 without even mentioning Badnarik, Nader, or anyone else. So I guess this is “progress” of a sort.
P.S. Is anyone keeping track of how many times Nader is misidentified as the Green Party candidate?

Bob Barr endorsed by High Times, National Taxpayers Union, NRA board member ….
… sounds very Libertarian!
go Bob Barr, 2008!

Hightimes is smoked a litle too much of the green themselves. Calling Nader the GP candidate is just sad. I mean, it’s good they talked abt the other candidates, but that they don’t know Nader has run as independent is just ignorant. Or, over baked.

As a ganja vaporizing voter, Barr is the last person I would endorse.

High Times has always had very low standards of endorsement. When spoke to their editor (Steve . . don’t remember the last name) in 1992 at a lollapalooza event in New York, he said that High Times was endorsing Bill Clinton because regarding marijuana, Clinton had “tried it”. Wow! Some great reasoning there, considering that Clinton never even came out for ending medicinal marijuana prohibition.
Endorsing Barr . . the former vociferous drug warrior endorses medicinal marijuana, but is horrendous on the drug war otherwise. More ridiculous endorsements from High Times. I guess if MPP and Rob Kampia can sell out and support Barr, so can High Times.

BTW, what does marijuana use for medicinal purposes have to do with recreational use, which unless I’m reading more into the magazine title than I should, as what “High Times” is about?

Well, it’s a step in the right direction.
