The Wall Street Journal has a lengthy story on the impact of Independence Party nominee Dean Barkley in the Minnesota U.S. Senate race. The Journal notes Barkley has polled as high as 14% against incumbent Republican Norm Coleman and Democrat Al Franken, who “have been waging one of the country’s most aggressive and expensive Senate races. ‘Voters are sick of the nasty ads,’ said Mr. Barkley. ‘In a two-person race you can probably get away with it, but with a third viable alternative, there’s a place to go. If you don’t like what you’re seeing, you don’t have to put up with it.'”
The Journal says Barkley “has won support with virtually no fund raising, only two paid staff members and no campaign office until Saturday. He said he hopes donations will follow the endorsements he is seeking from major figures in independent politics, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.”
Minneapolis City Pages writes, “We’d love to watch the entire election for Senate crumble as Barkley emerges from the rubble of burning Playboys, suspected rent deals and unpaid tax forms.”

Barkley or James Niemackl of the Constitution Party are the only alternative choices for Minnesota voters. The Greens and Libertarians didn’t run candidates this time.
Come on, let’s refrain from insulting each other here as well.
Ah as if ANY THING was a simple as simple minds, er, ah, GE portrays it……..
Minor disappointment, usually fair and balanced Ronald Gunsmann of Politics1.com completely left FORMER SENATOR Indenpendence [Reform Party wanna bee] Barkley from the primary results.
If only reality were as simple as how GE portrays it…
The “nastiness” is all for show.
You have two Israel-first neocons bickering over technicalities while the guy who singlehandedly gave us the Department of Homeland Security waits in the wings.
Democracy = Fail.
