Final Call, the periodical organ of The Nation of Islam, has published an interview with Green Party Presidential nominee Cynthia McKinney today, touching on topics including her departure from the Democratic Party, the ever-lingering “taking votes” question, and foreign policy. In one response, McKinney gives her view of the two-party system in general and her hope to reach out to those disaffected by it:
I think it’s pretty clear that the reason we have this discussion in the corporate press about flip flopping on issues is because neither the Democratic Party nor the Republican Party truly represents the values of the vast majority of people who vote and those who don’t vote. Those who don’t vote don’t vote for a reason. That is because they feel that the system marginalizes, alienates and disfranchises them. What we want to do is to carry our message of real substantive truth and change into those communities who traditionally don’t vote. They have given up and what we would like to say to them is that our 5 percent campaign should be the mechanism by which your values can finally become addressed in the public discourse and represented in public policy.

I highly recommend NOI beanpies. They taste like pumpkin pies but better.

McKinney comes out for nation building. Not surprising, but still an unpleasant pill to swallow. She’s staying stuck at 4th in my running.

Im gunna guess:
Barr Nader Baldwin?

Barr’s beating Baldwin (by default, at this point). I have a soft spot for Nader, but he’ll have impress me before I turn a blind eye to my many, many disagreements with him. Running this year’s campaign so tremendously better than 04′s was a good start.
If Keyes ends up on my ballot instead of Baldwin it’ll be a two-man race for me.

FAIL, Trent.

I take it you’re in CA, otherwise there would be no “if” for Keyes being on your ballot.
