randall,

I think that is a good idea. We could get a Paul/Ventura or a Paul/Rockwell ticket on the ballot in Louisiana. Are there any Louisianans interesting in being a Ron Paul elector?

I am not a big Bloomberg fan, but it is great to see people creating a choice for themselves since the republicrat establishment won't allow it.

It looks like Bloomberg and Paul are not going to contest their names being on the ballot. I think that is a good choice on their parts if they follow through with it.

I'm surprised Paul supporters in other states have not done something like this.

So far as I can tell, Louisiana law would allow it. Only the elector candidates are required to sign and file forms:

http://www.sos.louisiana.gov/tabid/693/Default.aspx

The deadline here in Louisiana for independent slates of electors is Sept. 2.

Since ballot access here is so easy, it's certainly not too late.

In Massachusetts, it is the *electors* who must sign, because it is they who are the candidates. The nominating paper has their signature spaces. The candidates do not need to consent, because the electors are the voters.

They'll be on the ballot unless one of them wants their name taken off. Bloomberg hasn't said anything about it yet, and neither has Paul.

"

Mike,

They just have to agree to let their names go on the ballot. Anyone, anywhere can petition to put someone’s name on the ballot….but they have to accept it.
"

That's what I'm talking about. I know that in many states like mine, the candidates need to sign a notarized form accepting the nomination. In others, like CA, the candidates can be "drafted" unless they contact the state and refuse the endorsement.

I can easily see one of Paul or Bloomberg refusing this.

Sounds like he might let it slide:
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0808/Bloomberg_lawyer_suggests_he_can_stay_on_Virginia_ballot.html

I'm uncomfortable as hell with Bloomberg, I don't trust him for a second ("kill it!", war, infrastructure, anti-smokism...), but it'll definitely be interesting. I hope they stay on, and that exit-pollers in VA probe MB/RP voters on what part of the ticket they were actually voting for.

So, in VA Bloomberg and Paul didn't have to sign any sort of a nomination form?
