“Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr said Wednesday that the growth of executive power is one of the main threats facing the United States,†the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Barr, campaigning in Philadelphia, “described the post-Sept. 11 expansion of presidential prerogatives as ‘dramatic and breathtaking’ and the Constitution ‘in danger of being washed away.’†The Inquirer adds, “Reflecting his modest resources, Barr’s schedule in Philadelphia was a limited one. Beyond a few interviews, his only campaign event was an unannounced appearance Tuesday at the 18th Annual Stu Bykofsky Candidates’ Comedy Night in Northern Liberties.â€

It sucks to run a national campaign on a shoestring budget. But if what is being reported about Ron Paul is true (see here http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080820/ap_on_el_pr/huckabee_paul_backers) he may yet endorse Barr or Baldwin. This may help bring the donations in.
