I have just left the Revolution March site at the far end of Constitution Avenue in Washington, near the Capitol builidng where the rally is now taking place. A dozen photos can be found here.
Due to other engagements I was unable to stay for the rally itself. As for the march, early estimates are that about 5,000 people are participating. The marchers were cheerful and organizers were cordially working with Capitol Police, who were quite amiable. In terms of campaign presence, I saw more signs of Chuck Baldwin representation than Bob Barr support — there were marchers with a fairly large Baldwin banner, and several smaller groups and individuals with Baldwin stickers on their shirts. There were just a few handmade Barr signs and buttons.
I got a few odd looks and one jeer from marchers who saw that my T-shirt had a picture of Che Guevara on it but who could not make out the caption “This Shirt Brought To You By Capitalism.” My sons (who will be four in September) thought it was all great fun, and Porter said “the President” was going by. He also picked up on a “Restore the Constitution” chant, saying “restore the consurbution” over and over as we walked back to the car.

Thank you for this report. I have to give Baldwin credit for being as well organized as his campaign is. But the whole theocrat aspect of the CP still doesn’t seem to jibe with what I understand abt libertarian capitalism?
I’ll be very interested to see how the Paulian gathering during the GOP goes, as far as alternative candidates appearance and appeal.
Does anyone know if Nader and Paul have ever been in contact abt issues, or worked on issues together? Ending corporate welfare for instance.

You are correct. Although I don’t think Baldwin is an actual “theocrat,” or anything close to it, I know what you mean by the term.
This site might give you the wrong impression. There are a lot of “Rockwellian” oriented libertarians and libertarian-oriented conservatives who write for and post at this site. In general, libertarians do not consider Baldwin a viable choice.
About Nader and Paul: The two are friends. Paul respects Nader but says that all of the “good” work he’s done would have been better accomplished in the private sector. Paul points to Nader as the type of person who would make things work in a minarchist world by creating free-market institutions that emphasized and certified safety, etc.

I’m impressed, I have to say. Actually rarely do I encounter a weblog that’s each educative and entertaining, and let me inform you, you have got hit the nail on the head. Your idea is outstanding; the difficulty is something that not sufficient people are talking intelligently about. I am very blissful that I stumbled throughout this in my search for something relating to this.
