Libertarian qualifies for Kentucky U.S. House race

Libertarian Edward Martin has qualified for the ballot in Kentucky’s Third District U.S. House race, the AP reported. Martin “is a firsttime candidate who describes himself as a ‘disenfranchised Goldwater Republican.’” The closely watched race features a rematch between Democratic incumbent John Yarmuth and ex-Rep. Anne Northup, the Republican defeated by Yarmuth in 2006.

NBC/WSJ poll: Nader 5%, Barr 2%

The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll on the presidential race, conducted July 18-21, has independent Ralph Nader polling five percent and Libertarian Bob Barr polling two percent. Barack Obama leads John McCain 48% to 35%. Chuck Baldwin and Cynthia McKinney were not included in the poll.
