Three third-party hopefuls in Oregon U.S. House race

Oregon’s Portland Tribune surveys the third-party field in the state’s open-seat Fifth U.S. House district race:

“The Libertarian Party nominated Steve Milligan, operations manager for an herbal manufacturer. He is in the middle of his second term on Monmouth City Council. The Pacific Green Party nominated Alexander Polikoff, an electrical engineer from Corvallis. The Constitution Party nominated Doug Patterson, a former minister and John Birch Society organizer from Oregon City who ran for the same seat in 2006.”

Douglass Patterson received 4,160 votes for 1.5% in 2006. A different Pacific Green candidate, Paul Aranas, received 4,194 votes for 1.5% in 2006 as well.

In 2004, Libertarian Jerry Defoe had 6,463 votes for 1.8% and Constitution candidate Joseph H. Blitz had 2,971 votes for 0.8%.

With all three parties having recent finishes of over one percent, this should be an interesting race.
