Minnesota’s St. Cloud Times reports Independence Party members will decide today whether to run a candidate for the state’s Sixth U.S. House District or cross-endorse Democrat Elwyn Tinklenberg. Bob Anderson, “a dental technician and mental health activist with no previous Independence Party experience,” said Friday that he will seek the party’s backing. Anderson said, “I was going to run as an independent anyway. But I’d rather go with the Independence Party, if they’ll take me. I agree with a lot of their issues.” The party’s candidate took nearly eight percent of the vote in the district in 2006.
