The Democrats and Republicans have their national committees, and so do smaller parties. Often we only see the headlines and don’t see what happened behind the scenes to make those headlines.
In an effort to make readers of Independent Political report aware of goings on in the Green National Committee, I will post here from time to time about what the GNC is up to.
As an example, as of today the GNC is voting by a margin of 75 in favor and 2 abstaining to place Ruth Gabbey on the party’s Finance Committee.
The GNC is also voting in support of changes to the by-laws of the Green Senatorial and House Campaign committees. The vote in that case is 72 in supporting, 1 abstaining, and 1 opposed.
Issues under discussion but not yet ready for a vote include Presidential Nominating Convention (PNC) rules, as well as election of the PNC Credentials Committee.
Another committee to be elected is the Tabulations Committee, which will count votes cast to choose the party’s steering committee.
The final committee to be elected by the GNC soon is the Green Party House Campaign Committee. Like the Senatorial Campaign Committee, the House Campaign Committee will help Greens running for federal office manuver through the rules and find solid ways to earn votes and media attention while building the party for future successes.
