There has been some confusion over whether Bob Barr called for the total repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act — which he helped write in Congress — or whether he wished to repeal a “portion” thereof. At the candidate debate in Denver, it seemed Barr was for the latter. But then later, he seemed [...]

Ralph Nader will not be on the ballot in Texas, and, in fact, he says he did not really make an effort to get on in the Lone Star State. According to the campaign, it would have cost approximately $300,000 to collect the necessary signatures, and this would have amounted to nearly half of the [...]

Most candidates for U.S. Senate try to present themselves as qualified, experienced, and principled leaders. Not so much for Joseph L. Pengitore, an independent candidate for Senate in South Dakota. June 3rd, 2008 · 1 Comment
Ralph Nader, making at least his fourth consecutive run at the White House, has become the unlikely subject of a Democratic congressional primary in Iowa. Nebraska Greens to protest debate exclusion
June 3rd, 2008 · 2 Comments
Nebraska Green Steve Larrick is running for Anti-War Senator Chuck Hagel’s old US Senate seat, but apparently the American Legion in that fine state has decided that hearing from only half of the candidates is the value their members fought and had comrades die for. Semi-democracy seems to be the goal in a planned [...]

The Presidential primary season comes to an end today and it’s expected that Hilliary Clinton will basically suspend her campaign after expected losses in the final two contests of North Dakota and Montana. But there are some other elections going on tonight that are worth watching.
Most notable, in my mind, is the New Jersey [...]

LP co-founder David Nolan has published some “belated thoughts” on the Denver convention.
After attending the Libertarian Party’s presidential nominating convention in Denver, I spent five days driving home with my wife, Elizabeth. This provided a much-needed break from politics, and gave me time to let my impressions of the convention settle. Here, after a week [...]

In its continuing media blitz, the Bob Barr campaign issued a second press release today, condemning plans for the FDA to regulate tobacco.
