Statement from the La Riva campaign on California same-sex marriage ruling

May 20th, 2008 · 2 Comments

The Party of Socialism and Liberation’s La Riva/Puryear presidential campaign has released a statement lauding the recent California Supreme Court decision on In re Marriage Cases.

The “Vote PSL” La Riva/Puryear presidential campaign joins the LGBT community in celebrating the California Supreme Court decision that overturned the same-sex marriage ban. This is a day that all progressive people should celebrate as one that tears down another wall of bigotry and discrimination that seeks to separate and divide.

The whole release can be read here. More documents from the case itself can be found here (note: this link points to a page used by the CSC to publish documents related to “high profile cases.” The length of time these documents will remain accessible there is indeterminate.)

Who cares what or who your neighbors are as long as they leave you alone. I neither condon or condemn anyone for what they are or lifestyle they live as long as they do not impose their beliefs on others. How many times have wrong decisions been made in the name of Christianity? Christians have stymied our country for years. I want someone to say it is okay to have a bar next door to a church. Whoa, better stop now. Way to go California. I wonder if not being able to marry in the church bothers you? Baby steps.

Speaking as an Californian, a Roman Catholic, and a Libertarian – I whole-heartedly endorse building bars next to churches. Saves me a drive.
