I think Kubby will likely be eliminated on thelater ballots and back Ruwart in a bid for VP.

Barr, if he wins, will likely not pick any of the other frontrunners.

Interesting. Who do you think is there for “influence purposes” and will bail after the first ballot?

I’ve wondered if Kubby is gunning for VP on a Ruwart ticket myself. It seems like a natural fit if the party wants to go along in that direction.

Personally, I still think Bob Barr presents the best chance to grow the party and bring in the most number of votes. But I can see how some of the points against him have gained strength lately.

If he flubs the debate, he’s in real trouble.

As for how many ballots? Depends on how well the NOTA coalition holds up. As always, they can by holding the line extend it out to where only 2 contenders remain … I’d estimate that would be around the 6th ballot if not longer: Ruwart, Kubby, Gravel, Barr, Root, Phillies … plus the others (who might all go in the first round if they suspend the rules to make it so); that means only one also ran drops each round (unless rules suspension hastens that process).

They may be there a while unless someone drops out at the last minute (which I am certain is part of the plan for some?)

when is the DEBATE? I presume they begin it at 7 pm Mountain time, in order to match the 9:00 (eastern) coverage?

Far more interesting to see that than the nomination process, frankly! It always is!

Depending on the outcome of debate, I would expect either the rebirth or the implosion of the LP on Sunday
